Hello from VT!!! We just brought our babies to their new home yesterday. We are so excited to get to know them and watch them grow. I have been doing my research for a couple of years, but have finally prepared enough to get them. I have already had to clean 2 cases of pasty butt, but otherwise they look good and healthy. I know I will be following this forum for my future chicken needs. Thanks!!!

It's nice to have you here! What breed of chicks do you have? Glad to hear you're keeping an eye out for pasty butt...they sure hate getting cleaned up, don't they (at least mine did).

If you haven't already done so, check out the helpful articles in the Learning Center. And saying hi to other members in VT might be nice, you can find your state thread with the Search feature.

Good luck with the little ones and have fun!

Thank you!! I'll be sure to check to see what others are saying from VT! We have New England Reds, some RI and NH. They are only about a week old and seem to have grown since yesterday! So exciting! One want fond of getting cleaned up, but the other fell asleep. I was worried about tugging her tiny feathers, but they handled it well.

Those baby chick days go by so fast, but big girls are pretty great too! Take lots of pictures.

Some Vaseline on their bottoms can make it easier to remove, if there is a next time. Some folks add a bit of ACV - apple cider vinegar to their water to prevent pasty butt

Hi and welcome to BYC. You have some great pointers so far, so I'll just say a big hello.

Good luck with your chicks
