This chick started to PIP over 24 hours ago. He/she has been stuck in this same position for almost 12 hours! Should I intervene?? Assist in hatching??!! What do I do?? First time incubator.

If it's really dry...the chicks egg membrane can get stuck to the fuzz...a bit of warm water drizzled down into the egg shell he seems to be stuck in might free him...I'd do it right away...if you do nothing he won't make it....so what do you have to lose?

I was just now able to verify my account and log in! So I am just now seeing this comments! Thank you for all your comments! He is fine!! I ended up helping him out, I couldnt take it any longer. Here he is!! As healthy as can be!!

This little guy hatched at 20 days, almost 21. At first I assumed yolo sac, but then it resembles an umbilical cord in the last picture. Maybe umbilical with something attached?? I'm keeping him away from bacteria, so he is in my daughter doll bath tub. I have read that you can tie it off with a string and it will die and fall off. I have read to leave it alone. I have read to clip it off. I'm just lost

This is what the incubator looked like after he hatched. Seems there was a second yolk???
