I agree.  Granted, a photo is not the best way to make a diagnosis, but I could see the intestinal involvement.  Been there twice, succeeded once.

I have not tried to save any like this yet, and not sure I would, but it's nice to know that it can be done. Thanks for sharing your experience.

You two are way more experienced than me with medical conditions. So far I have been very lucky to have just the minor things like unabsobed yolk and an occasion cord attachment, yet I was pretty sure that is what was going on. I think if a vet couldn't be 100% sure by a photo that was sent he shouldn't advise on the situation. To suggest tieing it and cutting it off, in my opinion was negligent, even though I highly doubt the outcome would be much different.
