un decided yet I still need to do a town survey to be se enough people like the idea and then see if the city I live in will want to buy a piece of land or if they have one that can be used why do u ask

Been keeping emu for years on a farm.

Chicks require a lot of movement area or the knee joint doesn't develop correctly.
Also when hatching rubber mats to make sure they don't slip.

Adults can eat a variety of food, ratite food is just an expensive con.
We feed a mix of foods that include goat, barley, pony nuts, they absolutely love pig food. They also love veg.
I use for feeding plastic buckets tied to fence with squares cut out so the wander around feeding from container to container.

Fencing 6ft. They will fight against the fence come breeding season so make sure it's tight.

The most important thing is handling!
Train them to a bucket of food so they will follow.
Be very very careful with yearlings as they can kick harder and faster and are more dangerous than adults.
Always handle from the side, one hand on the back end one hand on the neck and push and pull is the way I guide them, since they have issues side kicking.
You will tell when they go to kick as you will feel back muscles on the leg tense just before.
Also medical equipment
Vetwrap
Iodine bandages
Cotton bandages
Iodine spray
Tape

Rhea are a lot easier to care for but tend to be more aggressive.

I have to agree with the posts above, you would need at least an acre for your emu to be able to run around, they can go some distance and quickly too, they enjoy playing and chasing so they do need this space, I would hate to see emu penned in to a small space.
