Somis Chicken Newbie!

Thread Starter
Hello!
I just bought my first chicks yesterday!
A Welsummer and an Araucana.
They are a week old.
I have them in my diy brooder right now and am having trouble keeping the temperature up.
The weather outside is low 70s in the day and low 50s at night.
I only have two chicks and they are in a plastic storage bin, in the garage.
Any tips would help!
Thanks
Sara

Welcome to BYC:cd The best temps for them right now maybe for another week or 2 is 95* and gradually drop 5* in following weeks, Especially  theres only 2 of them.  A non coated lamp bulb hanging SECURELY above and a thermometer on their level.

agree with Spartan   and     Welcome to Backyard chickens  :frow.  When room temperatures are low or inconsistent - it's hard for a heat lamp to compensate. Could you put the brooder in a warmer area?

I set fire to the rain! Watch it pour as I, touched your face. Well it burn while I cried, because I heard it screaming out your name. And I threw us into flames. I knew that was the last time, the last time...I set fire to the rain! -Adele
