Hello from Portland OR!

Hello BYC!

I'm not actually new to chickens or to BYC...have been lurking for a long time, then finally joined last year and continued lurking...I've been tempted to respond to questions lately and realized that might be weird if I never introduced myself!

I grew up around chickens and so did my husband...my mom always had at least a couple hens no matter where we lived (all over the US) and my husband grew up on a farm. So we've pretty much "got it" but we are always learning. smile.png

We are definitely learning with our own flock...we have 18 hens, pullets and chicks now--more than I've ever had and at times a challenge in the city for my country boy husband. Our goal is to make some decisions as the latest batch of chicks mature and re-home or process 6 for a total of 12 laying hens.

We also have 3 kids, 2 dogs, and way too many to-do lists. wink.png. I have enjoyed reading the many threads here and hope to actually begin contributing now that I've made my first post.

Thank you!

We have Rhode Island Reds, Easter eggers, New Hampshire, barred Plymouth Rock, black australorps, buff Orpington, Delaware, barnvelder, red sex-links, Polish, leghorns, and one accidental New Jersey giant chick that looks an awful lot like a cockerel. smile.png

Having 3 kids brings "mixed flock" to a whole new level.

Hi and welcome (officially) to BYC. It seems that the chicken-keeping bug is in your blood for sure, so you are certainly in the right place for everything chicken (as you already know).

All the best

Welcome to BYC! I'm glad you joined us! :)

I set fire to the rain! Watch it pour as I, touched your face. Well it burn while I cried, because I heard it screaming out your name. And I threw us into flames. I knew that was the last time, the last time...I set fire to the rain! -Adele
