Ok i just checked on my broody hen whos nest is a little over full now i moved her to check on the preciouses and one had a hole in the shell she has been sitting on this green blue egg that came from her "amaracana" flock mate and she has been taking care of the blue ones for about 1.5 week the membrane was intact there is justvthis small holebi taped it over with some thin strips of duct tape but i guessbmy question is should i bother with trying to save this chick? Has anyone ever tried? And succeded? I candled and can see veins but its so hard to see into the egg because its blue green so i cant tell if theres any movement i put the egg with its tape bandage in an incubator for now.

There is no harm in trying everything you can.

If it works, then GREAT, and if it fails, then nothing really lost, by jumping early And ending the eggs cycle. Always see the positive for BEST RESULTS.
WISHING YOU BEST AND

I'm going to try the tape and keep candling like you say I can't really lose anything at this point it's like Schrodinger's Cat at the moment

I had something similar happen in my bator. I don't know how the hole ended up in the egg. I must have bumped it while candling and did not realize until I found it later I did cover the hole and it hatched successfully. You might as well try. You have nothing to lose. If it does not hatch you are no worse off that tossing the egg.
