Candled today and saw this. This egg is slightly bigger than the rest. I am a total newb, so I could be wrong. But this is twins, yes? And their fate will not be good?

Bobwhites. Day 13. 10 days to go.

Update: On closer inspection, I have 2 eggs like this. What are the odds that both are twins. There is a good possibility that my inexperience is showing. I hope candling in a couple days will tell me something new.

I never had Quail before, But the way I look at is is to take it in a POSITIVE WAY. If they hatch and live, then ALL IS WELL. If they don't make it, then there is no intervention you could have taken. See it as a learning experience. I will follow this to see what outcome results.
WISHING YOU BEST and

There's a very small chance that they'll make it, but why would you do anything but keep on truckin'? Hopefully you're like the Hell's Angels; a 1 percenter.

No advice but good luck and I'll be waiting to hear what happens. I collected a very large quail egg the other day, and due to having a full bator that was only 4 days into incubation I cracked it open to find a double yolker! Oh what could have been. Apparently not common for them to lay doubles, so might not see another one for awhile.

I tried 3 times with double yolk eggs they would get half grown and die in the shell. But you never know all you can do is try it maybe they'll make it all the way.

This definitely isn't something I did on purpose. This my very first hatch and I just put all the eggs into the incubator. I'd never even seen quail eggs prior to this so the thought never crossed my mind that the slightly larger ones would be any different. This is a learning experience for sure. We do realize chances are very slim that they will survive. This is one of the reasons that I wanted to do this with my 3 boys. Science is fascinating.

Sorry, don't want to be the downer here but that's not a 2 ovum/ embryo your seeing, what appears to be two eye formations, is actually one eye(head) the other dark spot is the tail end. Most people don't see this formation due to poor light source during candling. You obviously have a very good light source and a super camera to boot. Good Luck in your hatch!

That's the best news ever! As I said I'm a total newb and this is my first hatch. I have been scared about the thought of losing twins and/or trying to intervene to save them. Thank you!!
