My Rhode Islad Red has lost feathers on both side of neck. Has pin feathers but has been that way for months. Seems kind of red now. [IMG]

That's not molting, she looks like she is being picked on. Poor girl.

Deuteronomy 32:11
He is like an eagle that stirs up its nest. It hovers over it little ones. It spreads out it wings to catch them on its feathers.

Hi and welcome to BYC - glad that you have joined us. I'm not sure what the issue is, but I would not imagine that, from the location of the feather loss that its due to pecking. I'd suggest maybe posting your question on the "emergencies, diseases, injuries and cures" section - maybe you will get some help there.

In the meantime, the Learning Centre is a great resource, even for experienced chicken keepers - loads of info on anything chicken. http://www.backyardchickens.com/atype/1/Learning_Center

Joining your state thread  will put you in contact with other BYC members in your area, which can be very helpful.

The members here are amazing - very friendly and helpful, so if you need an answer to a question or simply want some reassurance that what you are doing is ok, then post away - we all help each other out here at BYC.

All the best

I set fire to the rain! Watch it pour as I, touched your face. Well it burn while I cried, because I heard it screaming out your name. And I threw us into flames. I knew that was the last time, the last time...I set fire to the rain! -Adele

x2 it doesn't look like molting. Have you checked her over closely for mites?
