Cheryl's Hen House...

Pics
That's a great space you made. Very nice that your run was large enough to do that. They will be able to get to know each other through the wire, and then introducing them should go pretty smoothly. Plus you can use the whole chicken yard space for intro day. Can't wait to see the new ones!

Hi Finnie!! How are you?

The little ones are home. Pics in a bit.

3 - BO's and 3 - Speckled Marans have moved to their forever home. :) Cheryl and I are super excited to get these little girls. It was so nice to be able to find some that were already 3 months old.

Pics from the homecoming...

Cheryl is a wonderful teacher...even when she's teaching chickens to use the HN waterer.

Edith checking out the new ones.

Literally took 5 minutes for them to use the feeders.

Told ya that Cheryl was a great teacher. Took them all of 10 minutes to master the waterer.

More to come....

This is what I find when I go out to check on them. lol... They are all wedged onto the next to the top rung of the stripper pole.

Yay! They are cute! That's funny, them all crammed together. Pretty soon they won't all fit, and the low dogs will have to go down a rung. It will be neat to see how the older hens take to them.

You asked how I was...

I'm a grandma!!

Fantastic!!
Might toss another couple blocks under the waterer, makes it easier for them to grab a mouthful and tip back to swallow.

I think those are Cuckoo Marans?

SMH, don't think 'stripper poles' have sharp edges and cross pieces.
Hope they can get down from there without crashing.
Might need a different roost....maybe from upright of pole to crosspiece on wall.....or 1 foot brackets off uprights on protected wall.

What fun, new birds!

I had it taller but one of them is younger. She couldn't quite reach the waterer so was making sure she could get water. The rest are having to adapt for now. :/

As usual everything is a work in progress.

They were all on the landscape timber on the stumps (you can see it in one of the pics) when I checked on them last night. This morning, all on the stripper pole. They were pretty restless last night. The folks I got them from had them in a big cage with no roost at all so I don't think they knew what to do or how to do it.

Yes on the Marans. Spedkled and/or Cukoo. Same difference.
