Excited and nervous

I am a first timer and have been reading a lot on the process but based on a lot of comments I still have a lot of reading to do because I don't know some of the terms yet. I have two pending hatches right now. First batch of day 18 And I moved them to the hatching incubator after I candled them. Where will summer eggs and many are hard to handle but I counted 8 chicks out of the first batch of 14. I'm not sure what's going on with the others as I wasn't sure what I was looking at so I will handle them again and if you days. Either way I'm super excited and now have to learn about how to help them if needed when hatching. I'm most worried about the humidity and from what I've read everybody has different ideas so since this is my first time I will just try and keep it between 60 and 70 and see what happens and adjust it for the next batch which is due to hatch on the 28th

:welcome

Between 60 and 70 for lockdown (day 18 onwards) is fantastic. Yes, Welsumer eggs are super hard to candle. For that reason, I don't ever throw out a Welsumer egg unless it's cracked or starting to stink.

Hope you have a fantastic hatch!!

I set fire to the rain! Watch it pour as I, touched your face. Well it burn while I cried, because I heard it screaming out your name. And I threw us into flames. I knew that was the last time, the last time...I set fire to the rain! -Adele

Good luck. We are just entering day 8 with our first try at incubation. Nervous as heck here too. Mary says I am worse than a broody hen I check the incubator temp so much.

Thanks everyone.
. I looked at the FAQ and didnt find the answer... Its day 19... Should I hear peeps tomorrow or Monday, Monday will be day 21... You know how they say pregnant moms shouldn't read too much... I've read so much about struggling babies and suffocating babies I am a nervous wreck.
