I bought 5 female cayugas 2 days ago and put them in a pen separate from my 2 free ranging pekin males. What is the best way to now let them out and let them mingle? I don't want my new girls to run off.

@deutsch11 Welcome to BYC!!      Probably best to keep them up for at least a week can the females see the Drakes? good idea to have them close by so they can get to know each other before letting them all be together. Those girls are going to be over whelmed by your 2 drakes so keep an eye on everything once you do put them together that the drakes don't get too carried away with the mating. They are going to be quite a bit bigger than the cayugas.  I think Cayugas can fly too so you def want them to know where home is before letting them out.Pics when you can.

Thank you! Yes they can see them through the fence in their 12x12 pen. We are moving them to a much bigger pen this evening because we are getting to more female ducks tomorrow and putting them in the 12x12 pen. I have two male pekins and a male mallard. The pekins were getting frisky with the mallard and he was packing his bags....lol. hopefully now everyone will be happy!

Poor Mallard. lol those boys should be very happy. just watch that they don't gang up on any of the girls in the pool they can drown one pretty fast if all 3 try to mate her at one time. Those drakes are pretty crazy during mating season.
