Is She broody or sick

Hi everyone so i'm pretty new to chickens and have never dealt with broody chickens before so if there is something obvious that i have missed please don't judge. Anyways i have a silkie and she has started to lie down during the day. a couple of days ago i went to check on my girls and boy while they were out free ranging and saw that she was just lying down on the grass and all the others were off chasing grass hoppers i thought it was weird so i walked up to her and as i pet her she got up and moved back into the coop. the next day i went to check on them again and the same thing except she was in the coop instead of on the grass. this morning i went down to let my rooster out and there she was just lying down. she has only been laying for 3 and a half weeks so could she possibly be going broody or is she sick in some way.

Hopefully someone else will chime in as well bit i know silkies are known to go broody a lot. They make good moms etc and will try to brood air if you let them. I would say broody just given that she is a silkie.

Thank you. I'm hoping she is i would love to allow her to raise chicks i'm just worried it could be sickness.
 
well i got an egg from her yesterday but not sure about today she usually lays about midday i will keep you posted.
 
ok. another thing, is she growling at you, trying to protect something whenever you go into the coop/her nesting area?
 
One of my girls whom if she decides to go broody again i would love it due to the fact she would let me do what i needed without growling and pecking and just going all out nuts on me. Easy to mark eggs and check for new ones etc.
Now her sisters on the other hand go full out crazy momma bear on me. I have my chicken wrangling gloves ready to go when i have to deal with them.
 
is it best to separate a broody chicken if you want her to raise chicks because i have a silkie rooster and i'm not sure if he would get aggressive.
