My girls are almost a year old and have been thriving wonderfully. Recently my Red, Miss Penelope, has becoming very fresh! She goes after us, to bite and even puts her feet up at my husband. If we try to pet anyone she comes after us and goes to bite. Even doing food and water she comes at us. Any ideas as to why she has become like this?

Sorry, but i have to ask - are you sure she is a she? If she is for sure, then thats a bit bonkers.

Definetly!! She lays eggs, sits on them, the whole deal. It's getting a bit frustrating. I call her my attack chick, which is kinda funny, but not when she's attacking us!

Oh dear - she is mad. Maybe if you begin to treat her as one would a roo, then you may be able to tame her aggression -I'd suggest typing "rooster aggression" in the search box and see what comes up. Personally, i use a plant sprayer / water pistol, but there's lots of other alternatives that may suit you better.

Not sure things can be worse - having a hen that attacks like a roo

All the best

IF she is sitting on eggs, do you mean trying to hatch them? IF she is brooding - that can bring out aggressive behavior because she will be protecting her nest and eventually any chicks that hatch. You may want to put "broody hen," in the search box and see if the descriptions sounds like your hen.
