Breed/Gender of 7 1/2 week old chicks

I have 6 - 71/2 week old chicks that I'm looking for breed thoughts as well as gender opinions.

The only one I know the breed for sure on is the buff Orpington.

Here is who they all are

1. Blondie (Buff)
2. Obi One (black & white barred)
3. Ginger (golden/orange)
4. Gus Gus (All black)
5. Jet (Black with white lacing on neck)
6. Kauai (White and black)

Where did the chicks come from?

Blondie is a buff Orp, and I'm thinking cockerel from those wattles.

Obi One looks like a cuckoo Marans pullet.

Jet looks like a mixed breed, probably pullet.

Kauai looks like a pullet, but I'm not sure of breed. Can we get a pic showing the legs also?

Ginger's coloring looks male, but I'd expect a lot more comb at this age. It also has nice thin legs, cockerels' legs are usually thicker. Looks like a mixed breed.


Gus could be something like a Sumatra. From the amount of comb, I'm thinking cockerel.

They came from 2 local farms that I bought eggs from and are were all from blue, green or brown eggs. I think all but the buff are likely mixes but can't be sure. It was more of a "I have extra eggs from my combined pen if anyone is interested in hatching some." I know there were EE's, Ayam Cemani, Isa Browns, Isbar, rhodebar, Bresse and cream Legbars. The buff was given to me by someone else which is why I know what that one is for sure.

Yeah Gus I'm sure is a cockerel :(. I was thinking both boy and female of the buffs had wattles So my fingers were crossed it was a girl. :confused:.
Let me see if I can get a photo of Kauai's legs. Yeah Ginger has been confusing me as well. Honestly, besides Gus Gus, I wasn't seeing any major "I'm a cockerel for sure." My last hatch I not only knew who were boys by 4 weeks, I had some crowing by 5 weeks.

Jet-Not sure of breed and 'she' is looking like a pullet for now

Blondie- Buff orp and as of now, I would guess pullet

Thanks, my good friend named him! More and more I think Ginger is a cockerel as well. She is very dominating in this group and her and Gus Gus dance fight a lot! ;) Kauai is the "chicken" of the group. She will freak out running around squawking to get away from me! :p

Ginger is definitely looking suspicious.
Aren't their different personalities and attitudes so great!?
 
I'm not good on the breeds but I'm good at genders.


Kauai - Thinking Cockerel.

Ginger - Thinking pullet.

Gus Gus - Thinking Cockerel

Blondie - Definite pullet.

Jet - Thinking pullet.

Obi One - Definite pullet. Love the name though!

Thanks for your input and I like the odds you're giving me!!

I knew there was a high likelihood that both Kauai and Ginger were boys so I'm hoping you are right with at least Ginger being a female. I've accepted that Gus Gus is a boy with the the size of that comb and the maroon waddles he is developing!
