Ventilation Question

Hi! I purchased an assembled coop and realized that there's only two maybe one inch holes for ventilation. I live in South Texas and I'm kind of concerned about the coop getting too hot at night.

Should I make more holes or invest in a solar panel and add a fan in there?

Welcome!  That's awful!  I would make it a three sided shed, and build another roof over the top for shade, and generally think about hardware cloth rather than solid walls.  Mary

This is the front, I was thinking of breaking the glass and adding hardware cloth over the squares.

It is recommended that you have 1 square foot of ventilation per bird. Right now you have 1 square inches.  Screen over the window will help but won't get you where you need to be.  Depending on how the interior is framed I would cut out some triangle sections right under the gables (the pink/red color) and put HC over that.

I wouldn't think you will need to break the glass. Is there trim holding the glass in on the backside of the door that you could pry off?

As for adding more ventilation, if it were me I'd look into cutting a good sized vent in the wall that faces the run. It would be protected from wind and rain by the run roof. I'd also cut a trio of round holes in each of the peaks.

Ahh maybe one hole where the door is to let them out? I also think I'm going to do two holes like this at the peak
