i, I have a duckling who I believe to be 12-15 days old. I believe he is a Rouen. He lives with my girl duckling who I believe to be a Runner. Ive noticed the last few days that he seems to breathe a lot faster than the girl. I know it is not a heat issue as he does it in all temperature settings, and he does not pant. They live indoors and eat and drink normal, and their house is cleaned daily. Ive also noticed that sometimes you can hear his breath but I wouldnt really says its a wheeze. Could this just be because he is a different breed or should I be worried its something more? They were both purchased at the same time from TSC.

I've never had a duck have this problem and I'd say you should probably take him to the vet. Birds can get lung problems very easily so he may be having some sort of lung related issue and those are often fatal.

I've heard that when ducks get salmonella they get eye infections but I've never had a duck get this so I can't confirm it. I also heard that they will act sick and be down for a while when they have it so again vet visit might be good.
