I recently got silkie chicks (3). 2 out of three are good. One is a lot smaller tthen the rest. The smaller one will only eat and drink if I pick him up and put him next to food and water. It looks like he is having troubles walking almost drunk like. Any idea? What can I do for my baby

I would spend most of the day dipping it's beak into electrolyte water with vitamins. SaveAChick is very good, and there are other brands that can be add to the water. Poultry Nutri-Drench is one that is directly fed 1 ml orally per day, and then still get the chick to drink water. Shipping stress, dehydration, failure to thrive are common in new chicks, especially bantams. Sprinkle some chick crumbles on a paper towel around it's feet to encourage it to start pecking. Keep it warm about 90 degrees F, but allow for a cooler spot to escape to in the brooder.

Thank you I got Sav a chick electrolyte and probiotic. He is eating wet chick starter when I put his feet in bowl drinking a little bit. He seems to be eating better but still sleeps a lot. I'll keep on.
