I have a maybe two week old Barred Rock that seems to be having some behind issues. I noticed she was getting pecked on by a couple of the other chicks and immediately separated the injured one from the rest of the flock. I cleaned and treated her behind with neomycin. The next day it's vent is extremely swollen and inflamed. I have the chick separated fron the rest of the chicks. I keep the vent cleaned and treated with neomycin and preparation h. She is eating and drinking well. She doesn't cry out or strain when pooping and seems to not be having any difficulty pooping at all. She is not as big as the other chicks, nor as active. Sleeps more and is quiet. We have debated culling this little one, but are wondering has anyone had a chick come out of prolaps? Any thoughts or suggestions?
