Hi there! Need some help:
We picked up four new chicks on Friday. All had vaccinations. Three are doing well and eating and drinking. The Black Australorp, however just won't eat or drink. The other chicks are already getting bigger than she is. She was very sleepy in the first 24 hours and though she is more energetic now, just won't eat or drink. She just runs around peeping loudly and almost seems like she's frantically searching for something. We have a heat lamp at 95 degrees in a large box brooder plus a heat plate at the other end for them to go under. I started syringe feeding her today a puréed mixture of medicated feed, yogurt and water with electrolytes and a bit of sugar. Her excrement is watery but I don't know if this is diarrhea or just because she's only getting a liquid diet?
Any advice? They were a gift for our daughter's 10th birthday and I'd really hate to lose one! This is our second batch of chick so we've only done this once before.
Help?!!
