Injured duck need help

Thread Starter
Found one of my ducks with left leg sprawled back, brought her home, examined her and found no obvious injury; I placed her in a large plastic box to isolate her then she laid with bothl legs sprawled back --she can not move. Can anyone give me some advise (other than take her to aver). Thanks, José

Are there drakes in the flock?

Overmating can cause this, so can egg binding.  I would get her into a tub of lukewarm water and see if she can float safely - do not leave her for even a minute - but see if floating on the water works for her.  It may even help her.

Keep her in a safe, clean place with fresh water and food - make sure she can reach it.  Let her rest and see how she's doing in the morning.

She could also be egg bound - crush a 250 mg calcium citrate tablet and sprinkle that over some thawed peas or fresh corn, some kind of moist treat.  You could also do the same with a Tums.  If it's egg binding, the calcium can help.
