We just got our baby chicks!! We are so excited to eventually have our own fresh eggs. I was just looking for any tips anyone can pass along to us for the start of our chicken journey.

Don't fret over every little thing. Enjoy the journey and rest assure the chickens will do well if given the basics. Food, water and shelter. Shelter being a secure and well vented coop and pen or electric poultry netting.

Most everything will be told to you by the chickens themselves if you observe them. Like raising the chicks now. If they constantly peep then likely they are too cold. If they are lethargic and spread out and everyone with mouth open then they are far too hot. They let you know whats needed. They also are well adept at monitoring themselves if given the chance. Take brooding chicks for example, if the heat source is to one side and ample area in brood box for cold side they will move to the area they are most comfortable. Let's face it, chickens are the easiest livestock to raise. Relax and enjoy.
