Until chickens mature, a female chicken is a pullet and a male chicken is a cockerel. After they mature, they are then called hens and roosters. Like humans are girls and boys until maturing, then are women and men.

Hey! I also am wondering if any of my chicks happen to be roosters. I am mainly wondering about my barred rocks. Are there any ways to tell for sure? They're about 2 weeks old.

Not at two weeks old.  You'll have to wait it out.  Until then, enjoy their cuteness.

RSL, Buffs, RIR, Amber Rocks and GLWs. Three turkeys getting ready for Thanksgiving.  One GLW Rooster crowing over them all.

Well, if they've got feathers enough to see the barring...if there happens to be an individual whose white bars are about 2x the thickness of the others, it might be a boy.
