Good day to all ey smile.png
Just joined and have been reading some awesome posts. congrats to all you successful chicken owners. Just building coop organizing brooding pen and waiting to pull trigger on ordering first batch of chicks. Darn excited. However still have snow on ground. Freezing some nights. I am trying to time the chicks (for meat) so that after two weeks it can be safe to free range them a bit. What do you think is minimum nightly temp the two week olds can handle ey?

Thanks for the site
John

Hi welcome-byc.gif John

Glad you could join the flock! I've moved less than a week olds out to the brooding shed with below freezing temps and they have been fine. I just make sure my shed is draft free but has ventilation at the top and a good heat lamp for them. They have done fine and have been good healthy chicks that got roughed off pretty quick.

Wishing you the very best of luck with your new chicks. Enjoy BYC and all the chicken chat frow.gif
