Idle question about power outages

I was watching chick TV this evening and had the stray thought about what would I do if the power went out since I don't have a geberator? There are quite a few chicks, so stuffing them in my shirt would be comical. I guess I could throw them in the car with the heat on high, but depending on how much gas I had in the tank that solution might be short-lived. I decided that I probably would build a fire in the bbq grill to heat some bricks, then wrap them in towels for the chicks.

So, what would you do?

Losing heat in my house during winter is not an option as several of my household pets would not survive, and it would not exactly be hospitable for the family, especially the children...

For that reason I have a tri-fuel generator on hand that allows me to restore a decent amount of power to the house and in turn to the barns and coops... Being able to run off gas, propane or natural gas is a huge perk, especially if it needs to be run for days on end where I can hook it up to the natural gas line or a big propane tank for painless 24/7 operation over extended periods of time... It's honestly cheap insurance and the first time you need it you will be glad you have it...
