Hey everyone! :) I've been thinking of getting a pair of geese for the farm and have been trying to decide what kind to get. I was looking into getting a pair of Troulouse goslings(the smaller non dewlapped farm kind) from Ideal Poultry, because I like their size, look, and demeanor. Has anyone ever gotten them from Ideal Poultry? How did they turn out(pictures are a plus :) )? I've never had geese before, so this will be my first experience with them. I want to get a pair to guard the other birds(or at least the land the other birds are on) from predators and stuff, because I already have a dog for the goats, and a donkey for the cows. What are your thoughts?
Also, what do you feed goslings and grown geese? When do you transition them to adult feed? Anything special I should know? I've got Muscovy ducks and have been raising them for a while. Are geese basically the same as far as care goes?
Thanks in advance!!! :)

They are called "Production Toulouse", not Troulouse. ;)

I've ordered from Ideal, I liked them a lot. I don't have any old pictures though as I've gone through many phones since then!

Please do not get geese just to "guard" your other birds. They will not be protective over anyone other than their own species, and they are a BIRD. Any brave raccoon or fox or cat could take down a goose, they'll die if you are going to expect them to be guard dogs and the blood will be on your hands.

I fed Purina waterfowl or chick feed or something for a while. Make sure it's not too much protein as they can get angel wing!
