Ok, so as a total newbie when I bought from TSC, I had no idea how wrong they were so often. The more I see pictures of Barred Rocks, the more I think I got those and not black sex linked pullets, which is what I really wanted. I got 2 to have at least 2 layers in my flock of 10; the other 8 are straight run. And probably heavy on the roo side :( Anyway, these "girls" are a month old. What say you on breed & gender if possible?

They frequently sell straight run sexlinks. If you aren't careful when picking your birds, you might grab a few boys by accident. It's the pink at the base of the comb at only 4 weeks old, that is pointing to cockerel.

What are the defining features you see? Do you know if TSC does anything when they make a mistake that obvious? Selling Roos as pullets is kind of ridiculous.
The single comb and dark barring color indicate either barred rock pullets or black sexlink cockerels. But pullets shouldn't have their comb turning pink at 4 wk old.

Actually, TSC is very famous about selling cockerels as pullets. If you search this website, you will find many threads complaining about it. That's why I'll never buy my chicks from them.
