I'm new to having ducks. We got two last week from TSC. I think they are coming up on 3 weeks old. One has been making a noise which I originally thought was a different type of noise-since I know starting around 5-9 weeks they get their "quack". But now I'm wondering if it's a cough. It sounds a little like a quack or honk noise. Anyone have any idea? Also if it is a cough-anything I can do? I've got a 3 year old and though it's part of having animals she's going to be so sad if it doesn't live. Me too as it's my favorite

I would let the little one have a nice brooder-temperature bath, give him or her a chance to really clear those nares.
And at that age, it could be the voice change. My Runners started getting their adult voices starting at about 3 weeks.
I purchased my babies on Saturday, and they sounded a bit stuffy. I actually had a duckling die, right after we brought it home. :(
So, I went to a feed store up the road, and bought some antibiotics that you put in water. They were on antibiotics for 24 hours (that's what the package said to do), and they have cleared up since, no more problems. Just be careful about the dosage. Ducks can easily overdose on medication, that's why ducklings cannot have medicated starter feed.
