Yesterday I noticed blood in one of my chickens poop. I didn't know who it was but I thought nothing of it because it was only one and sometimes that just happens. But today I found multiple blood spatters all over the coop. They are about 5-8 weeks old I have 2 ducks with them and no one is hurt. Is it a disease? Anyone know?

That's could mean they are internally bleeding. But was it injured recently?

Have you examined your chickens for injury? Sometimes, rats will come into the coop and bite the toes off younger chickens... makes an absolute mess.

Short of that, I would suspect something like Coccidiosis if you are seeing bloody poops.

You can treat all nine strains of Cocci with Corid (amprolium). You can get Corid at Tractor Supply, your local feed store, and online. :)

Dose:

1.5 teaspoons (NO LESS) of the 20% powder per gallon of water

OR

2 teaspoons of the 9.6% liquid per gallon of water

Mix in their water fresh at least twice a day for 5-7 days and ensure this is the ONLY water they can access during that time. Not sure how you will pull this off with ducks! :)

Do you see anyone hunching, puffing, or lethargic?

Here are photos of the Corid:

It's a very gentle medication and has cross-species use in cattle, goats, rabbits, poultry, etc.

Hope that helps. :)
