Hey there! I'm Jess. Because my creative juices aren't flowing well today, I am using the template given (which I am ever so thankful for)! I'm looking forward to meeting you all in the forums!
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I am new to chickens and ducks. I raised some for a livestock nutrition class, but they weren't mine, so I couldn't reap the benefits. We started our new feather family in February 2016.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
We had 8 chicks when we first started, but sadly after a month, they were killed by one of our dogs. We recently got 10 more chicks and then 4 ducklings.
(3) What breeds do you have?
For hens we have 2 Gold Laced Wyandottes, 2 Light Brown Leghorns, 2 Rhode Island Reds, and 4 New Hampshire Reds.
We also have 4 Khaki Campbells, but when we are able to identify what gender they are, we'll have to rehome one or two of them.
(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com?
I was looking up information for the new flock and this was one of the top sites Google had on the search.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
I am a filmmaker, photographer, horse trainer, reader, writer, gamer...basically I'm an everything enthusiast!
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I live with my parents and brother on a farm. We have three dogs, four cats, two horses, and of course our newest members, the featherkids. I'm a media operations specialist at a company nearby. I make promotional videos and also design ads for events the company hosts. I graduated from film school December 2015.
