Should I be concerned about Coccidiosis?

I am sure this has been asked before, but I was wondering if there are extra precautions I should take against Coccidiosis since my chicks are being fed unmedicated starter feed since I got them. I clean their brooder every other day, their waterers once a day and try to let them get some exposure to their poop by not overcleaning. But I am wondering if I should do anything extra when I start introducing them to the outdoors so they don;t get sick. When I was a teen I had chicks and fed them medicated feed, but since my husband and I are looking to raise more "natural" flock I passed on it and went with the non medicated kind. Should I start feeding it to them before I take them on "field trips" outside or will they be okay?

I usually add a lump of grass with sod into my brooder for the chicks to peck on when they are days old. The idea is to slowly expose them to coccidiosis in the soil slowly,miso they build up resistance. So far, I have never had a case of coccidiosis. That said, it's good to have some Corid handy, and know the warning signs which are lethargy, weakness, poor appetite, hunched posture, and loose droppings with mucus or blood. The best precaution is to not mix multiple aged chickens in a brooder. Good luck.
 
Thats the age i added dirt in my brooder at (just under 2 weeks). Theyre just shy of 3 weeks now. Mine are on medicated feed. I plan to put mine outdoors within a week if i can so i figure why not. They have been dirty little fluff butts with all the dust bathing theyve done lol

That's not too old to do start exposing them to soil. The idea is to gently expose them a little at a time to build up resistance. Chicks usually don't start getting sick from coccidiosis until they are 3 or more weeks old. All chickens have some in their gut, but if they get a big exposure, and haven't yet build up enough resistance, that is when symptoms will occur.
