Design Phase of a Trailer Coop/Tractor

A resource to see how a commercial built unit of this type is setup:

I liked your method on testing for ventilation.......go out some nice sunny day and climb in that thing at high noon. Shut it up as shown......then stick around. By 1 PM you may be looking around for ways to add more ventilation. If not, and you are OK and happy with it as is, then problem solved. BTW, that simple test would apply to every chicken house / coop anyone builds.......not just you.

It is unfortunate (for the birds anyway) that far too many well intentioned folks end up building houses that more closely resemble torture type sweat boxes than comfortable coops.

I saw those! They're pretty cool, thats where I got the idea along with some other browsing online. I really liked the water tank idea, gravity feeding the waterer. I was doing my best to incorporate that into mine, but I decided against it. It was going to add too much weight since I am moving it around by hand. If I get an ATV or tractor eventually, I will probably add the water tank. But until then, I will avoid it running me over on the hill!

Extra venting that can be opened and closed is always a good thing to have.
Feathers moving during warm weather is good..I think.....during cold weather not good.
I find it hard to believe that at 90 outside it was only 84 inside with coop sitting in full sun like shown....was that 84 near the end of a sunny day?

Hey! Update post. As summer progressed and the heat came, I've added all kinds of cross ventilation hatches in the coop that can be opened and closed individually. I'll work on getting some pics, but I'm super pleased with how it turned out. Between the open bottom, vented ridge, vented eves, and additional vent openings added it gets a really nice controllable cross breeze during the days and air exchange at night without ruffling any feathers. Thanks for your advice/links!
