Hi everyone! We are slowly building a farm here, and we added a dozen baby chicks to the family yesterday! I am totally new to raising chickens, so I'm going to need a lot of help! I'm interested in finding out what breeds we got. We were told we got 2 Rhode Island Reds, but the other 10 we have no idea on. We were also told we got 2 pullets...,hoping there will be more than 2! LOL.

So, 7 of them (including the pullets) look like this. And that's the Red behind

Then we have these 3 bantams.

This little cutie is the only one with feathered feet..don't know the technical term, if there is one.

This is my favorite...I call it Silver Queen....though it may be a King. Haha.

Any help identifying breeds would be greatly appreciated!

Hi :welcome

Glad you could join the flock! Congratulations on your new chicks, they are adorable :clap Please do pop by the what breed gender section. Here is the link ~ https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/15/what-breed-or-gender-is-this I'm sure members there will be able to help you.

Wishing you the very best of luck for the future. Enjoy BYC and all the chicken chat :frow

Welcome to BYC. If you post on the "what breed or gender is this," thread please DO state what age they are in the photos. It makes a big difference. A good age is 6-8 weeks for putting up photos - too early and gender differences may not be obvious.

Cute chicks! It will be easier to tell the breed and gender in a few weeks, in the meantime, enjoy! They don't stay small long.
