Aggressive Rooster?

x2! Roosters need to be an asset to the flock, not a danger. About Sussex; I've had a number of hatchery cockrels over the years, and some were wonderful, and some were human aggressive. It seems to me that the hens are cute and friendly to people, but that same boldness can turn into outright aggression in the males sometimes. Mary

A late reply, but was posting on another thread and thought I'd give a rooster follow up. Not long after my last post we ended up culling the rooster after all. He attacked me on two separate occasions, and that was more than enough to convince me. His earlier behavior was definitely an indicator of things to come. It was nice to see our hens get some much deserved rest from his aggressive behavior also. We haven't replaced a rooster in our flock since, however we just acquired some of our neighbors fertilized eggs to put under our broody hen and replenish our flock. Undecided if we'll keep any cockerels.
