What's the sweetest thing you've ever seen a chicken do?

Cottage cheese makes friends, Our dog Lady trying to be patient and share with my little Butter Cup.

All of the girls know what time we eat dinner and peck at the patio doors for their treet.Tonight our dogs went out and didn't close the door when they came in. My son said "mom, we've got company", and I turned to find my little Buff Cochin, Butter Cup in the kitchen checking out the dogs water and food bowl then stopping at my feet to demand her treat. The dogs looked on in awe as I got her treat ànd said she had to eat outside as I shooed her back outside.

So cute! I have a chicken who comes inside too!

My sweetest hen was my little Jillian. In September-October 2015 she developed a pendulous crop, and wasn't given a good outlook by the vet. She though she had between 3 weeks-a month before she basically starved to death. Thanks to BYC and a lot of research I managed to find something called a "crop bra" for hens with chronic slow crop/pendulous crop. I immediately ordered one, and hand made another for Jill to wear while we waited for the real one to come. Jill managed to make an almost complete recovery, and moved from our basement back out to the coop. Sadly, she couldn't tolerate the extreme cold of our northern MN winters, and moved back into our basement permanently. She became my little baby, and loved to cuddle and eat Cheerios. I would supervise her while she roamed the kitchen during the day, and if I went into the living room she would fly over the baby gate to find me. She was the absolute sweetest little hen ever. She would get a bout of sour crop every few months, and I remember during one of those bouts she was cold and not feeling well, so I tucked her inside my oversized hoodie with me to warm her up. Sadly she passed away on August 2nd of this year, I'll always miss her.
