Hey!! This is my second time hatching chicks. Last year i did 12 white rock and 11 of the hatched :)
this year i have 12 ameraucana and 12 lavender orpingtons
I woke up last night to a TON of chirping but no pips
This morning i woke up and 2 of them have pips on them. 2 of them are pretty big so im nervous about them drying out.

the humidity is a little high right now I took the plugs out but it isn;t going down.
Is high humidity a bad thing? Or is it okay because its going to keep the eggs moist?
This is the small pip. You can kinda see the big one on the side of the egg on the bottom.

okay phew. Mine was at 75 stays around there will go up a little. but eggs still chirping and rocking! no zipping yet just pips! eeee :)

I would keep watch on the egg with the o on it.

To me looks like he pipped the wrong end.

He may hatch but may need assistance.

Keep both red plugs out for proper air exchange while chicks hatch.

I run at 75% during hatch and it goes up once they start hatching, but it gives me a good humidity for when I open the bator.

thats what i was thinking!! when should I help? and what do I need to do?
Yes, it's malepositioned. Many malepositioned chicks will hatch on their own while others will need assisting to hatch. As long as they membranes stay nice and papery wet I'd give it 18- 24 hours unless you think there's something wrong. If you find you need help don't hesitate to jump over to https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/1081034/hands-on-hatching-and-help and usually there's someone around that would be more than willing to help.

Sometimes from initial pip to zip could. Be up to 24 hours.

They take a break.

I have some hatching now. Pipped last night at 7. Hadn't started zipping when I left for. Work at 5am.

But dw text at 9 and said 2 were out.

Give him a little time.

Cool

He is in a hurry.

But when out he will encourage the others to get on the ball.

Is it the wrong end pipped eggd
