hatching cracked eggs - Page 2

Hello All,

I had an accident with the incubator lid and cracked an egg badly. There are several cracks, little blood and some membrane exposed. I scotched taped it all immediately as I don't have candles. My question is when I lock down at 18 days should I put the tape side facing down? I am not sure a chick can get through the tape if it chooses that side to pip.

From what I read they take them off to make sure baby can get out. You should be able to see the crack in case you have the same issue mine did. None of this batch hatched. I did successfully get one hatched yesterday that had been in the fridge for a couple weeks. I am super excited. Definitely going to be a spoiled little one.
