Help!!!! How do I tell my babys apart.

I have 27 2 week old baby chicks and I have some friends coming over to get some and don't want them to get my favorites.

Do I put nail polish on there foot?

Colored zip ties work well, but you must be absolutely sure to remove them all afterwards. A zip tie left on a growing chick's leg is not a good thing. I would suggest writing down each bird you put a zip tie on so you can check them off when you remove them and won't accidentally miss one.

If they are light colored, you might also consider putting a drop of food dye on their heads or backs.

Nail polish is not a good idea... the other chicks are likely to pick at it and injure or tear the toenail.
