dust bath

I'm not sure that there is a way of getting them to use a dust bath - they bathe where they feel is the best area for them (in my experience).

Mine dig in the dirt and make thier own. You could try putting some treats in to help them find it. Once they realize it's soft they might like it. Mine will basicly roll in anything soft loose and dry. And the less work they have to do to get it that way the happier they are. We had some left over sand we used to full a hole in the run area years ago. I actually forgot about it, it was weed covered, but I swear soon as we got the chickens that was the first thing they found.

Hello, we are just getting started in raising chickens! we have 6 Isa Brown pullet chicks in a brooder now, I have thrown together a coop and run using some "extra" materials I had around the property. my coop and run will be mobile to some extent. I need some tips on what and how to make a suitable dust bath. I have heard wood ashes, ??
Thank you, and we like being a part of this great forum
