Hello BYC,

I'm excited to start this Spring with my first official "betties" for eggs. I just moved to Milwaukie, Oregon and my family has settled on an acre property. I have fond memories of my grandmother raising chicken...getting eggs...watch her mercilessly butcher them. They made for awesome arroz con pollo.....My kids have done 4H in the past for chickens (meat pens) so we have some experience in raising chicks. We have just never kept them long enough for egg production. Thus, I've been in the process of researching pens and breeds. I look forward to gleaning from the expertise in the group. Thanks for having me.

Hi Dishchick and
welcome-byc.gif
- glad that you have joined us.

The Learning Centre is a great resource, even for experienced chicken keepers - loads of info on anything chicken. https://www.backyardchickens.com/atype/1/Learning_Center and the Coops section is great for your coop / run design planning.

Joining your state thread will put you in touch with other BYC members in your area, which can be helpful (just type the name of your state in the search box).

All the best
