I have a sick chick. She is only approx 11 weeks old. She has a huge golf ball sized lump on her throat and is not eating, drinking or really moving for that matter. She tries making sounds but the sound barley comes out. I had another just dead in with them a few days ago. There were 7 total. I'm not down to the other 5 plus her. I've had them for weeks and just recently moved them outside. They are also on medicated feed and have been treated approx two weeks ago for possible parasites with imovec. Any thoughts or suggestions?

Is it her crop that's bulging? Does it feel like it's full of feed? If it seems to be the crop you could wait to see if it empties or not, and possibly follow some impacted crop suggestions if it doesn't. I hope she gets better! (I'm right near you in PA, waiting on some advice on a please-help post of my own!)

A chicken's crop should be full at night and empty in the morning. If she has a foul smell about her, she could have sour crop... But check her in the morning and night to see what the status is of her eating.

I would suspect something like Coccidiosis. Have you seen any bloody poops or anyone else seemingly going down hill?

You can treat Cocci with Corid, which you can get from Tractor Supply, your local feed store, or you can buy it online.

Dosage:

1.5 teaspoons (NO LESS) of the 20% powder per gallon
OR
2 teaspoons of the 9.6% liquid per gallon

Treat for 5-7 days, make fresh for them at least once a day, and ensure this is the ONLY water they can access during treatment. Give it to ALL of your birds.

Hopefully, that helps!!

Let us know. :)
