a tablet cut in half not too bad to give at least for My Hubby.

some of the meds I didnt realize were capsules.

Most of them wont take things like Safegurd etc or Valzaban, or Tylan etc on a nice piece of bread.

The amprocillin or whatever... I bought is fish type and capsule form.. dang it

dont mention a vet cause Im not driving 100 miles or so.. and local vets are useless they wont even do a culture or whatever for my chickens...

thanks yall

What is the medication for? What illness are you treating?

I find that liquids are easier to give via syringe without a needle (Tylan injectable can be given orally). Wrap the chicken in a towel if you don't have another pair of hands... Insert syringe between beak and aim LEFT down the throat to miss the trachea.

^ That's a peacock, but you get the idea.

It's better to give Valbazen this way to control the dose... If you give it on bread, one chicken may get more than another.

As for the fish ampicillin capsules... maybe you could mix it with water and tube?

Hope that helps!

Ampicillin dosage is 125 mg twice a day for chickens. If your capsules are 250mg, you can mix them into some yogurt or buttermilk, for instance about 2 teaspoonsful. Stir well, and use have of it in some raw egg, bread crumbs which is equal to 125 mg. If your capsules are 500mg, then make 4 doses the same way. I have also used liverwurst to make little medicine snack out of to divide a larger dose capsule for my dogs.

yeah... worry about them aspirating. have had sev close calls lately with the syringing liquids. Hubby is good at it but they RESIST SO>>>>>much

unfort bought a whole big box of 3ml syrib=nges.. they are somuch fatter than the 1/2 nd ones.. plus the "end" where a needle Could go arent as slender and long.

unfortunately tooI bought a whole box of small  needled syringes . are hard to break off the needles so they are useless too

trying to treat loose poo with undigested stuff, sometimes watery....

gonna give" Safeguard" again soon too.

yeah its hard treating a dozen..... yeah trying to treat them and segerate them while trying to dose with yogurt etc.. w/o one girl stealing anothr portion.......

hate all the unatural stuff. just wish with all the weeds out thee something in nature they can find themselves would help...

trying Glenna H... receipe with VIT E, selinum, applesauce, a  little ,yogurt vitamin B complex... also trying garlic in water, tried ACV, probiotics in water...

we give them boiled rainwater everyday...if they dont find it themselves w all the wet weather we have had since winter...

So much rain here and they are constantly finding worms, plus I know they have gotten in some old rainwater puddles etc. that I missed emptying

so its prob  columstruim Perfergentis....or whatever its called.... while they roam the big area and yard....

thanks
