Are there tax benefits to having chickens. Can you get a tax break?

I have heard that you can raise some chickens to try to reduce your taxes.  Is there any truth to this?

Yes, but it can be complicated and usually applies to flocks much larger than most backyarders have.

Consult with your tax accountant for rules pertinent to your area,

do not rely the experiences of others over the internet.

Great article on VENTILATION, one of THE MOST IMPORTANT aspects of coop design.

Fantastic treatise to help decide how much SPACE your chickens need.

Chicken math is not just 'addition'...but also should include Division, Multiplication and especially Subtraction!!!

Quoting centrarchid:

"Make every effort to understand your chicken's biology and the environment that supports it."
