Ok, in hindsight it wasn't so hidden. I just thought she was cozy back there in the back corner of the coop behind a wire mesh section where I had added extra straw for winter insulation.

Today I pulled out 27 eggs!! Now I have 3 female ducks so potentially they've shared this nest. It could just be this one particular hen which means some of the eggs could be a month old. The temps have been as low as as 20 and as high as 70. Avg around 55. They free range all day returning between 4pm-6pm. They might be fertile but I doubt any of them took as she's not broody at all. I don't want chicks just yet.

So are these eggs OK to eat? Bake with? I wasn't overly careful pulling them out and have them mixed up in cartons. Meaning I didn't keep track of the top layer (freshest) and lowest layer (oldest).

Would you keep them all? Toss them all? Try them one by one? Thoughts? Thanks

Some of the eggs at the grocery store can be a month old. Candle them, check for cracks or signs of freezing. If they still have the 'bloom' on them it is an antibacterial barrier. But, I would crack one open... Just to be safe.
