Sick/Depressed Hen

I did read up on that ... but it says her abdomen should feel squishy. It's hard. She did eat a bit of cucumber tonight. She pecked a bit at the grass, but I really think she was pecking the water droplets. Poor girl.

Sorry I can't be of more help... Would you consider trying to drain her and see what comes out? :/

Edit to add: Now that I read about kidney issues, that squirt of pure liquid that came out could indicate kidney disease/failure.

I really hope I'm wrong and that the swelling goes away and she returns to normal after a full recovery!

I am sorry for your loss.

Penny was absolutely beautiful. Sometimes, they are just taken too soon.

And please don't blame yourself. I feel there is very little you could have done, besides everything you did.

RIP Penny ♡

I am so sorry you lost your pretty hen. I was reading this hoping she would pull through. It sounds like you took good care of her and tried everything you could.

Thank you. 2 nights mornings ago I realized she had egg perintitis. I treated her for everything else, but didn't see the signs for that in time. She was pretty bad last night, I prayed she would die overnight because I just didn't want to watch her suffer anymore. I spent a good part of the night researching home euthanasia :( She was gone this am. Our first loss. My youngest said she's waiting for Penny to feel better. Hard lesson learned but a good lesson on illness for me.

Thanks you all for your help and kind words.
