Are the baby chicks suppose to sleep like this?

Birds don't actually abandon their babies. Look up what a fledgling is... Of course if you did your research on baby birds being "abandoned"- you would have come across that.
Where are you from? Or how old are you? The way you word things... Different.

Everything is doing really good now and thanks for your advices. I'll try to research a lot more and better the next time I can have chicks. Limit of chickens is 10 but I got 5. Now the weather beginning to look good like 80 or 83 degrees but next week is a little cloudy. Trying to get my chicks to explore outside but keep them away from my 3 other hens especially my brown leghorn because she keep bullying and pecking the little chick. If she tried to do it again to my Ameraucana, I'm gonna shoo her away and bring the chicks into another safe guard place. I mean raising chickens in an urban neighborhood is not that hard but the roosters aren't allowed. I cried a lot when my rooster have to be butchered. I want to give it away so it can still live its life but sadly, no one accept them. :( I still get terrible memories of it and sometimes even today, 2 years from now, I still cried thinking/looking at the pictures I took.

I am sorry :( I have 5 chickens that have gotten killed by raccoon's over the past 5-6 years, and I miss em' like crazy! I have also had rooster that had to be killed, because of being extremely aggressive. Where I live I can keep roosters (I live way out in the country) but choose not to.. (they can get down right MEAN!)

Same for me, I have a insane obsession with animals, I love them SO much, and have such a passion for them, so I'm right there with you. Also I am happy that everything is going well for you and your chicks :)

I love animals too! ALL Kinds! EVERYONE tells me I belong on a farm! I would love that but living here in southern California you have to be SUPER WEALTHY to have a farm and I don't qualify so I make due with what I have. For California especially Southern California my yard is considered pretty big at 10,000 square feet. Gives us room for the chickens, some fruit trees, and a pond. If I could I'd have all kinds of animals :)

It's against BYC policy for minors to disclose their age, or other members to ask them to disclose that information publicly. However, without pointing a finger at this young person, because I'm not at this time, I feel that the pet stores/feed stores, and anyone selling animals bears some responsibility in situations like this, and pets/living animals should not be sold without parental consent and signature regarding responsibility for the care of the animals being purchased.
