Help With Bantam Chicks

I just got some Mille Fleur D'uccle bantam chicks, and gave run into a slight problem.

They climb into the feeder!

I have the long trough feeder with holes in it, and while the bantams can reach the feed from the ground, they seem to like perching on the side while they eat. As they're eating, they lean farther and farther in, then squeeze their little butts through the hole and pop out on the other side, once they get done stuffing their face of course.

They seem to know they can get out, but I'm worried about what will happen when they get bigger and can no longer fit through the holes.

Is there a bantam size feeder I can get? Is this common for bantams to do?

I can already tell that these two are going to be keeping me busy. They have no fear whatsoever!

You can certainly fashion something that would work. Maybe a deli cup with little openings cut into the lid small enough that they can't fit they're bodies in?

i will try that, thanks! I didn't realize what I was getting into when I got a couple of bantam chicks.wink.png Those babies are fearless!

Thankfully, I haven't seen them do it lately, I think their little butts got too big to fit inside the feeder. Still, I would like to dissuade them from trying it again, just to be safe.
