A watched feather never frizzles?

Thread Starter

One week ago, I bought day old red frizzle chicks.  Two of them have crazy frizzle feathers.  The other four.. not so much.  I've read that it can take two weeks for their feathers to frizzle out.  Spent the past 24 hours just watching the feathers.. hoping...  Any chance the others might frizzle out or are the others definitely smooth?

The others are probably smooth.

When breeding frizzles, you breed a Frizzled Rooster to smooth hens or vice versa in order to avoid getting 'frazzles' which are very sickly chickens. As a result, you get 50% smooth chicks and 50% frizzle chicks. It's just luck of the draw.

Agreed.

If their feathers aren't already showing some curl, they never will. I can pick out my frizzles as soon as their little wing feathers start growing in.
