Advice needed!!!! First night with no heat lamp.

I have 9 chicks and they are 5.5 weeks old and from what i can tell just about fully feathered if not already. To prepare them for the transition to the outside coop i shut the heat lamp off for the first time at night tonight!!! At first the chirped nervously but quickly settled down. As i type this they are peacfully sleeping no noise. Now to the concern... 4 of them are huddled together but the other 5 are comfortably roosting or by themselves.2 are even roosting on the edge of brooder up top. I attached a picture from my security cam i have on them. Let me know if you think they are fine please. House temp is mid 70s. there is plenty of room behind them so space is not a concern. Heres a pic of them outside a few days ago for feather reference also if you see any roos its be nice to know! Thanks

They should be just fine. Actually it's encouraging that they're a bit spread out.

No obvious roos that I can see!

They'l be fine.  I put my first batch of chicks outside on April 1st when they were 5.5 weeks old, put a heat lamp in there with them, and they didn't even use it. I left it in there for 2 days but they never did use it - they snuggled together in a pile near the pop door.  The day I took the heat lamp out it snowed, and we didn't see our last snowfall until June 6th.  But I've learned that chicks huddle for more than just warmth - like adults, they don't like change.  So when there's a change in their environment they tend to huddle for security.

awesome thanks smile.png i just wasnt sure if the huddling was a sign of being cold, scared or just normal for some chicks when turning off the lights. The two up top have been roosting at night up there for weeks now so i knew they would be fine just wanted to make sure all of them were good.

You've done very well! Take it a step further and open a window next. It will extend the acclimatizing, making it a piece of cake to move them outdoors into the coop.
