Can you raise ducks and chicks together?
I don't know for sure since I have never done this, but my neighbor does. She seems to raise them together and put them out into her pen. She has a wonderful set up, I would say like a 30x50 foot pen ( I don't know for sure maybe bigger?) and she has to coops and houses in there. There is a pond and the puts the chickens and ducks together. They seem happy. I'm pretty jealous of her setup!
It looks like she has two small sheds. I never actually went over there to look at them. I admire them from far . But she literally has maybe like 20 ducks and many more chickens. She also has geese. I can't imagine she actually separates them in the sheds.
Yes - I've done it. You just need a water solution as ducks need deeper water and will make a mess of it. I elevated it over a pan and used a cut-out milk jug. You'll have to clean it often.
I know ducks make a mess. I had them many years ago. But what do I need to do different for the chickens?
